A natural born teacher, Julie Deife (dye’ fee) BaEd, MBA, IRest Yoga Nidra Meditation and LifeForce Yoga teacher, has a unique background in yoga education. Julie’s work has had an influence in the yoga world for nearly two decades. She has studied with, written about, and interviewed some of the world’s leading yoga, Ayurveda and meditation teachers. Julie teaches in Corrales, NM.
Julie is the founding publisher/editor in chief of Los Angeles-based “LAYOGA Ayurveda and Health” magazine (2002-2008). She served as editor in chief of “Yoga Therapy Today” magazine for the International Association of Yoga Therapists and consultant to Yoga Alliance; she founded/produced five annual Southwest Yoga Conferences (1998 – 2002). She has travelled to India four times since 2002, focusing on yoga and Ayurveda.
Teaching privately; selected populations i.e. individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, and classes for Veterans; Community Yoga Classes; programs for employee and/or organizational development is for Julie the natural progression of decades of study and practice, devotion to yoga and love of teaching.
Over the last several years Julie has focused her studies with Richard Miller PhD/Integrative Restoration (iRest) www.irest.us, Amy Weintraub/LifeForce Yoga www.yogafordepression and Rama Jyoti Vernon. Julie completed iRest Level II and is in the iRest certification program; and LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Level One. Julie is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
In over 35 years of personal yoga and meditation study and practice Julie, yoga educator and mentor, has gone deeply into relationships between yoga and meditation practices and their effects on mental, physical and emotional health based on traditional texts and teachings, her personal practice, advanced trainings and an ever-expanding body of evidence-based yoga and meditation research.
In a previous incarnation (1973-1998) Julie taught in public schools in Washington and New Mexico and worked as a social-issue marketing consultant for businesses, non-profits and governmental organizations (1992-2010).
Her love of the outdoors and nature stemming from childhood on a farm and continuing to this day, brings an expanded awareness to her delivery of yoga and meditation practices which fosters understanding of the inherent and unchanging perfection in all – including ourselves.
Julie Deife lives in Corrales, New Mexico with her husband Bob Belinoff, two cats and a view of the Sandia Mountain range.
