More About iRest™
iRest™ Yoga Nidra (iRest for short) is an evidence-based method (see irest.us) that supports the healing of PTSD by changing your relationship with your traumatic experiences and symptoms of PTSD. It helps you get back on track, stay on track, heal your PTSD, and get on with living your life with meaning and purpose.
iRest™ is an ancient meditation-based form of treatment and healing. It works directly by changing the sensory, cognitive, and emotional symptoms that are keeping your PTSD in place. It involves grounding, body sensing, breathing techniques to stay calm and alert, practices to relieve tension and visualization to expand potential for establishing new pathways – physical, mental, emotional and in life.
iRest™ brings about deep relaxation while also producing healthy changes in the structure of your brain. It provides you with the self-care tools you need to navigate your daily life and restores your inner sense of ease and wellbeing.
More than 320 million people live in the U.S. An estimated 70 percent will experience a traumatic event at least once during our lifetime. 20% will go on to develop symptoms of PTSD from our experience. Among US combat veterans the number of cases of PTSD are even higher. An estimated one in three military combat personnel experience PTSD. PTSD is also especially common for victims of sexual abuse and violence.

- Being involved in a civil conflict
- Experiencing a stressful life event, such as divorce or unemployment, an illness, or the death of a loved one.
